The Motorola Ion Smart Radio has been developed specifically to meet modern workforce needs – no more communication silos, no separation between radios, smartphones and other devices, no more location-dependent, isolated networks.

For example, if you are using the Ion in standard DMR mode, the Auto Network Switch feature automatically switches you to broadband when you roam beyond your radio system coverage range. Compatibility with Motorola’s carrier-independent WAVE PTX service means the Ion can communicate with any connected device.

The Android platform and open app ecosystem it supports allows you to add all the applications you need for your business – ticketing, scheduling, collaboration, the full set of Google G Suite productivity apps and plenty more. Cloud-based configuration and provisioning helps you deploy faster while real-time device monitoring and remote updates means you have to spend less time managing devices in the field. This also includes best-in-class network security to help prevent snooping,  safeguard your critical data and stay on top of device access and malicious activity.

Beyond voice, the Ion also offers multimedia capabilities. A 13MP integrated camera lets you send full HD video. Not only does this let you extend your communication options with video calls and conferencing, it also offers security professionals and first responders a video security and analytics solution, allowing users to record critical incidents for use as evidence.

The Ion also provides access to Motorola Solutions’ unified technology ecosystem, a set of digital radio software platforms including IP Site Connect, Capacity Plus and Capacity Max which have helped redefine what two-way radio is capable of.

User Environment

Rugged and durable, the MOTOTRBO™ Ion is designed specifically for use in all work environments, no matter how tough. It is rated IP68 for dust and water ingress protection, which means it can survive being full submerged. The intuitive touchscreen is made from Gorilla Glass, which gives it high impact resilience and weather resistance.

There is also the option to fit the Ion with a HazLoc certified battery, which turns it into an intrinsically safe device for use in hazardous industrial environments where there is an ignition risk from combustible gas and dust.

Multi-constellation GNSS location tracking (combining GPS, GLONASS and other satellite tracking technologies) provides pinpoint monitoring in all locations.

Warranty

Every MOTOTRBO™ Ion smart radio comes with Motorola Solutions’ Enhanced Warranty, which includes 2 years manufacturer’s product warranty covering hardware repair, plus 5 years technical support and software updates. There is an option to extend hardware repair and accidental damage cover, or upgrade to Essential Service cover to get the benefits of batch programming for the lifetime of the service contract.
