The water-submersible and dust-proof EVX-S24 portable digital radio is the perfect solution for radio communications on the move in tricky conditions. Tiny but tough, this ultra-compact model is built to be reliable and easy to use in any environment. With dimensions of 91 x 55 x 32mm, it is smaller and easier to operate in the hand than most smartphones.

Originally built by Vertex before the company’s acquisition by Motorola, the EVX-S24 hybrid radio operates in both analogue  and digital modes. This makes it a perfect stepping stone from analogue to digital radio, as it can be used with any existing analogue two-way radios and so allow a fleet to be upgraded gradually over time.

In digital mode, the EVX-S24 two-way radio benefits from an Ambe+2™ vocoder for enhanced voice quality. This reduces background noise and automatically adjustment voice clarity. The EVX-S24 maximises available channels with a Direct Mode feature which allows two communication paths on a single frequency without the need of a repeater.

Other advanced digital features include private calling, which uses unique user IDs to send direct messages to individual users. It also has an Interrupt Transmission mode which will override all other calls on the network, a useful safety feature in emergencies.

Site search makes using the EVX-S24 across different networks easy. It will automatically scan for the nearest and strongest available signal from a network the handset is connected to, meaning you can travel around big premises crossing between radio networks seamlessly. This is great for operations that reach across multiple floors or even multiple locations.

In digital mode, the EVX-S24 has a standard battery life of 12 hours, and 11 hours in analogue mode.
