Part of the company’s latest LT5000 Series, the Lugra LT5100A captures all the things that are helping the brand make a name in two-way radio – great quality, high reliability and prices that don’t pose a barrier.
The LT5100A is an analogue non-display digital radio, designed for simplicity and flexibility. Weighing in at just 208g and with chassis dimensions of 127 x 57 x 32mm, this handset is compact and easy to carry around without proving a hindrance – even on long shifts.
With a no-frills control set-up – just the traditional push-to-talk button, volume control, channel scan and function switch – the LT5100A is intuitive and easy to use, posing no issues even for first-time two-way radio users. Combined with the attractive price point, it, therefore, makes an ideal entry-level option for general business use.
Capable of working on both VHF and UHF frequencies, the LT5100A can be deployed both indoors and out. VHF offers better signal range in open spaces where there are few obstacles, while higher frequency UHF radio is better indoors and in built-up areas as the signals can pass through walls and objects with less interference. The LT5100A also has an IP54 rating, certifying it as dust and splash-protected, which makes it just as safe to use out in the rain as it does in dusty environments such as on construction sites.
With use in industrial settings in mind, the LT5100A digital radio also provides a number of handy features which can help businesses with health and safety coordination. An Emergency Alarm button issues a network-wide alert with a single touch, minimising delays in getting help in the event of an accident.
Lone Worker requires users to check in with the network at fixed intervals, triggering an alarm if they do not so colleagues can make sure they are safe. Man Down uses a tilt switch positional gauge and accelerometer built into the handset to detect unusual movements that could be caused by a fall, also issuing an automatic alert.
The LT5100A comes with 256 available channels and allows users to create call groups on selected channels, rather than having to broadcast to the whole network. It also supports direct one-to-one private calling.
With data security in the workplace a high priority for most businesses these days, the LT5100A encrypts all radio communications as standard, maintaining privacy even if the call frequencies you are using are picked up on external devices. It also comes with a Remote Kill function which means a handset can be disabled if lost.
Lugra two way radio handsets support both direct mode operation (DMO) and trunked mode operation (TMO). DMO is the technical term for ‘back-to-back’ operation, where handsets communicate directly with one another without the need for any other equipment. DMO is therefore an easy, convenient and cost-effective way to use two way radios. TMO uses ancillary equipment like antennas and repeaters to boost the quality of coverage over a wider area, and can be useful if you want more reliable communication in both indoor and outdoor settings.
Lugra LT5000 series radios come with two years’ warranty.
