The Kenwood NX-1200DE3 is a VHF entry-level hand-portable radio, providing a reliable, affordable everyday option for general communications needs.

Whereas other models on the market can be programmed to work on either digital or analogue frequencies, Kenwood’s NX range two-way radios can function on both simultaneously,  automatically detecting the type of signal and switching as required.

In fact the Kenwood NX-1200 radios can operate in three modes. The NX-1200DE3 can function as both a DMR or NXDN digital two way radio, as well as use analogue FM fequencies. DMR is a time division multiple access (TDMA) digital radio protocol that offers high energy efficiency and flexibility. NXDN is a frequency division multiple access (FDMA) protocol that is less flexible but doesn’t require synchronization.

All handsets are also tested to US military standards MIL-STD-810 C/D/E/F/G for temperature and shock resistance.
