The IC-F3400DS is part of ICOM‘s latest generation of IDAS digital business radios. IP68 dust-tight and waterproof protection, combined with rugged MIL-STD construction ensure this handheld digital radio can continue operating even in rough weather or job site conditions.

With a high-resolution colour LCD screen, this radio provides excellent visibility in both indoor and natural lighting. Menu icons and functions are labelled clearly in an easy to read font. It also features a night mode setting for use in low lighting conditions or at night.

Menus are easy to navigate thanks to a central navigation button on the front of the radio. This simplifies use and minimises the number of physical buttons on the device.

Finding an open channel is easy on the IC-F3400DS with its 1024 memory channels and 128 zones. This VHF model is perfect for workers who spend most of their time outdoors, such as park wardens and forestry staff. Multiple language settings are available including English, German, Spanish, French, Russian and Simplified Chinese; voice announcements can be customised and recorded for each language.

Security is important, and that’s why this handheld unit comes with 4-key DES encryption as standard. 256-bit AES encryption and OTAR functionality are also available when the radio is used in conjunction with the optional UT-134 encryption unit (sold separately).

A microSD card (up to 32GB) allows administrators to digitally record outgoing and incoming communications. A 32GB card allows for up to 500 hours of recording. Audio is saved in .wav format and can be played back on the radio or a desktop computer.

When discretion is needed, vibration alerts can inform of incoming calls from a particular user. The vibration is strong enough to be felt through heavy work clothing, and the vibration patterns can be programmed and customised.

All of these features come in a lightweight package of only 170 grams, which makes it easy to wear this handheld two-way radio on a belt. The lightweight design doesn’t come at the expense of battery life, with the standard BP-283 battery able to last approximately 10 hours on a single charge.
