The Hytera PD685G is the companion model of the Hytera PD685 handheld digital two-way radio, with optional extra features including GPS satellite positioning.  Part of the Hytera PD6 series, the PD685G is a high quality device with LCD screen and full keypad, delivering  superior voice clarity and enhanced encryption  for secure, reliable professional communications.

Encased in a high-quality metal chassis that is just 27mm thick, this two way radio is a compact, easy-to-carry model that is nonetheless impressively tough. With an IP67 rating, it is entirely resistant to dust whilst also being able to continue working after being submerged in 1m of water for up to 30 minutes.

That makes PD6 Series radios suitable for use in all environments, even outdoors in adverse weather conditions. One of the benefits of digital radio technology is enhanced voice clarity which ensures communications come through loud and clear even with high levels of background noise. And with its ergonomic design, this handheld radio offers simple operation in difficult environments, with a full colour display and full keypad for easy access to features as well as one-touch operation via a push-to-talk and three programmable buttons.

This is also a radio that will help keep teams safe wherever they work. The PD685 comes with safety features such as priority interrupt emergency mode and Lone Worker remote monitoring as standard. To these, the G version adds a Man Down feature which uses an in-built accelerometer to detect sudden and unexpected movements like falls, and issue automated alerts as necessary.

GPS functionality also helps with emergency responses. If an alarm is triggered, location tracking means colleagues can pinpoint where the alert has come from quickly.

Like all other models in the Hytera PD6 series, the PD685G offers excellent flexibility in how it can operate. Other extra features include Bluetooth, which you can use to connect to wireless accessories such as a C-style earpiece with in-line PTT and microphone for a hands-free experience. The PD685G also supports voice-activated VOX operation.

The PD685 offers exceptional channel capacity for large teams, with a total of 1024 channels available in total split across 64 zones, with each zone being capable of holding 256 channels. But even this isn’t the upper capacity limit. As well as being developed in compliance with the ETSI DMR standard, these radios support DMR trunked mode. XPT digital pseudo trunking, a Hytera patented technology, dynamically assigns available frequency resources to increase the number of calls that can happen at once. There’s also the option to integrate into telephony for extended connectivity.

Keeping all communications secure, all radios come with 40 bit enhanced encryption as standard.

Speaking of efficiency, the 1500mAh li-ion battery that comes with the handset as standard provides operation of at least up to 16 hours, ideal for long shifts. An optional 2000mAH battery can be purchased with the capacity to last up to 22 hours in digital mode.

The PD685 requires an Ofcom licence to operate.
