The Hytera PD685 handheld digital two-way radio is a compact high quality device with LCD screen and full keypad. With a slimline yet robust design, an impressive range of features and automatic switching between analogue and digital modes, this radio is often a popular choice across many industries.

Encased in a high-quality metal chassis that is just 27mm thick, the Hytera PD685 radio is both easy to carry and impressively  tough. With an IP67 rating, it is entirely resistant to dust whilst also being able to continue working after being submerged in 1m of water for up to 30 minutes.

That makes the PD685 suitable for use in all environments, even outdoors in adverse weather conditions. One of the benefits of digital radio technology is enhanced voice clarity which ensures communications come through loud and clear even with high levels of background noise. And with its ergonomic design, the PD685 offers simple operation in difficult environments, with a full colour display and full keypad for easy access to features as well as one-touch operation via a push-to-talk and three programmable buttons.

This is also a radio that will help keep teams safe wherever they work. The PD685 has safety features such as priority interrupt emergency mode, a one-touch alarm that sends an alert plus the caller’s ID to all other users, overriding any  ongoing calls. It also comes with Lone Worker remote monitoring as standard.

Like all other models in the Hytera PD6 series, the PD685 offers excellent flexibility in how it can operate. As a dual analogue and digital radio, it is an ideal option for migration to digital, as you can add new handsets one at a time and they can continue to communicate with older analogue radios.

The PD685 offers exceptional channel capacity for large teams, with a total of 1024 channels available in total split across 64 zones, with each zone being capable of holding 256 channels. But even this isn’t the upper capacity limit. It is programmed to work on both DMR Tier II conventional digital and trunking protocols. Trunking allows for more efficient use of call slots and dynamic assignment of frequency resources so more calls can be handled at a time. And when you need to keep comms secure, it comes with 40-bit encryption on all calls.

Speaking of efficiency, the 1500 mAh standard lithium-ion battery that comes with the radio as standard provides up to 16 hours battery duration, ideal for long shifts. An optional 2000mAH battery can be purchased with the capacity to last up to 22 hours in digital mode.

The PD685 requires an Ofcom licence to operate.
