The BD505 is a compact and versatile professional two way radio from Hytera that is perfectly suited to the demands of commercial and industrial environments. With a rugged build and high quality digital performance, the BD505 delivers reliable radio communication wherever and whenever you need it most.
An innovative design feature of the BD505 is that it is able to support both analogue and digital modes on the same hardware. Unlike other so-called ‘hybrid’ two way radios, the BD505 lets users switch quickly and seamlessly between the two. This means it will work with your existing fleet of analogue radios as well as more modern digital handsets, making it an ideal radio for analogue to digital migration.
Working as a digital radio, the BD505 delivers enhanced performance in comparison to analogue radios. Excellent reception sensitivity pushes the viable signal range further than many comparable models. Using VHF frequencies, the BD505 digital radio has an effective communications range of up to 10km, making it an ideal tool for professionals working across large sites in sectors such as hospitality, security, and construction.
Digital encoding and correction technology improve audio quality, ensuring messages are transmitted with great clarity even at a distance, with high fidelity human voice reproduction without background noise. Even in noisy, busy environments, you can trust communications to get through loud and clear.
In addition to enhanced digital performance, the BD505 boasts a durable and rugged construction that can withstand the daily wear and tear of demanding environments. This includes a strong, flexible antenna and tough casing that meets Military Standards for resilience and are rated IP54 for dust and water ingress protection.
While it is certainly built to last, the BD505 is also designed for convenience and ease of use. Weighing just 240g with a slimline profile, it is easy and lightweight to carry around, an important consideration on long shifts. It comes with the classic ultra-simple two-way radio controls – push-to-talk (PTT) button that you simply hold to talk, and let go to listen, plus a rotary channel switch combined with audio channel announcement and an LED colour indicator. This feature allows switching of channels to be quick and accurate even in adverse working conditions.
Another important user-friendly feature is extended battery life. Thanks to TMDA digital technology, the BD505 can operate for up to 22 hours on a single charge when fitted with a 2000 mAH lithium ion battery.
The Hytera BD505 is a licensed two way radio, which means it requires an OFCOM licence to operate. It can work in UHF or VHF frequency bands in the 400-470 MHz and 136-174 MHz ranges, which have access restricted under licence for commercial use. We will apply for the licence as part of the hire or purchase process. Please contact us to find out more.
The BD505 two-way radio is a rugged and durable two way radio built for long-lasting performance in different environments. It is designed and tested to meet Military Standards 810 C, D, E, F and G which include temperature shock, vibration, humidity and more. It also comes with an IP54 rating for protection against dust and water ingress.
All Hytera’s two way radios come with a standard two year manufacturer’s warranty.
