All Ears for Four Legged Fun Day!

Held at the Barleylands Craft Village and Park, the event was organised to raise much needed funds for the dog rescue charity, which takes in abandoned dogs and does what it can to find them a new home.

With plenty of canine-related activities such as a fun dog show, a rehoming parade and an agility contest, there was no doubt who the stars turns were. There was also plenty of other entertainment for the whole family, with craft stalls, games, raffles, tombolas and a vintage car display.

Brentwood was asked to supply two way radios to help with the preparations for the event and to ensure that everything ran smoothly on the day.

We hired out a fleet of Kenwood TK3501 handsets. As an unlicensed radio, the TK3501 is a value for money model perfect for small community events. Unlicensed radios operate on frequencies within the 446MHz band, which is set aside by the telecoms regulator Ofcom for anyone to use free of charge.

The fact that you don’t have to buy a license for permission to use the airwaves helps to make unlicensed radio very affordable. The downside is that the 446MHz band is often crowded with lots of users, which can cause interference. However, for a one-off event like the Dogs Trust Fun Day, and out in the countryside away from other users, this was unlikely to be a problem.
