Brentwood carried out its customary tests and trials throughout the extensive plot. The engineers chose digital technology to deliver the required 100 percent coverage across the entire site. They selected handheld, two way, digital radios DP3400 and DP3600 (made by Motorola).

Motorola DP3400 and DP3600: The DP3400 is very easy to use, especially as it has a tri-colour indicator that gives clear, visible feedback. The more sophisticated DP3600 displays text on a clear screen, as well as acting as a menu-driven interface with icons.

Both two way radios are robust, tough and water resistant. Their enhanced audio quality makes them ideal for use in noisy conditions; and their extended battery life avoids the need for frequent recharging.

The radios’ emergency button enables staff to alert colleagues when they need help. Radio users can also make and receive texts at the touch of a button. In addition, encryption technology means all conversations remain secure in crowded areas.
